Title: Doe decoy for late season hunting
Post by: bigbucks1985 on November 22, 2011, 06:26:19 PM
I was thinking about using a decoy for late season whitetail have never used a decoy so wasnt sure about it. I am hunting out of a ground blind so it would be easy enough to put a decoy in front of it, any advice?

I've experimented with doe decoys for a few years. Still have mixed opinions.  I have seen bucks aproach right up to it a few times, but the does in the area usually become nervous and snort and stop their feet. If you plan on calling much the decoy can really help seal the deal. It is better to use in an open area, where deer can see it from a little ways off, and not be suprised by it at close range. I'd say give it a try. Its always fun to see deer react to a decoy. Put a little doe estrous around it too. Good luck!
