Title: Elk and deer openers?
Post by: huntnnw on November 23, 2011, 08:32:57 AM
I would like to know the reasoning behind the 1 day difference between the 2 seasons...makes 0 sense to me why isnt deer open today...still 3 days shorter than what we use to get! I guess they want people screwing up so they can write tickets..get that revenue WDFW

Are you talking about archery in the NE units?  I'm confused about that as well.  Don't see why they don't just both open today instead of elk today, deer tomorrow

I have the same question about muzzleloader seasons in western Wa.

Muzzleloader elk opens today, but muzzleloader deer opens tomorrow.

I emailed someone at the department last year and asked why don't they have deer and elk opening on the same day, but I never got a reply back.

I think they just need something to help fill the pages......or........another chance to catch "poachers" who didnt read the regs close enough........kinda stupid any way they want to try to justify it

I noticed in my archery area, in the early season, they used to have the opener the same time elk, and deer. Now Deer are a week ahead of elk, and it spooks the hell out of the elk by the opener!
