You guys need to buy a calender :chuckle:
Yeah, its the getting the photo of them thats the hard part. Biggest deer this year I think I actually got several of. Hes been on here. No mysterious giants this year. In a way, kinda disappointing. Usually I see a couple giants that I miss because of poor conditions, thick stuff, or the fact they want nothing to do with me. I had a couple tough deer but they weren't booners. No big whities this year either.
There are three deer that stand out. One I saw during hunting season and my stalk was blown by another guy. I saw him later on the winterrange. He was so big I came back and got my Dad who had a 102 temp and pneumonia and hauled him out on the sled to go see him. He was worth seeing even if it was going to kill him. No camera. 35 inches easy with unreal forks and then two stickers about 6-8 inches each one on both sides sticking out beyond the 35.
The other was over in the Colville. Saw him int he fog. I chased him in the thick brush round and round for about 30 minutes and never got a photo of him. He was just unreal big.
The third I was snowshoeing witht he Mrs and had a camera. Canon AE-1 witha 600mm mirror lens. I was looking at a small four point and she was looking through the spotter. I had seen the deer bedded under a tree. Rose tells me she is sure its a buck. I look again.. No way thats an antler. TOO BIG. Then he turned his head. I about came unglued. STILL haunts me. I grabbed my camera and the fog moved in. One of the worst moments of my life. I so wish I would have just watched it for a minute. Probably 7-8 inch mass measurements throughout and pushing 38 wide. I've never even seen a picture of a deer that big. As you can imagine I looked long and hard for those sheds. NEVER SEEN him orheard of him again.
THIS YEAR was probably this deer. No Booners this year. I was either a bad hunter or it was a bad deer year. I saw one Booner but it was dead in the back of a Colvilles truck. He wouldn't let me film it or him. I respected that. It probably had about 2 less years on him than buckluckys wifes deer, so it had more dimensions and tine length. An incredible deer.

That's a nice deer from this year. And I would love to be snow to lay eyes on those 3 you mentioned.
You mentioned it may be a bas year for deer. Maybe it has something to do with bucks holding their antlers longer this last year? :dunno: the areas I hunt i noticed deer with antlers all the way into April on many bucks. Less time to grow for this year :dunno:

Very nice Buck.

Saaaaawwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Bone,
I know you dont like giving up gmu's or anything like that and I respect that. I was wondering though, I notice that there is no snow in the background in most of your pictures, are these local deer for the area you're in or are they early migratory deer?
-
A mix of both migrators and locals.

One I saw during hunting season and my stalk was blown by another guy.
i remember that day well...
