Ok so I have a chocolate lab that just turned a year old. She retrieves well but is still learning. She has several commands down and loved the water up until recently. Since the weather has turned cold she doesn't want to jump in. Today I had to coax her in the water. Any ideas? I do have another lab which is my main bird dog and she goes right after the birds always has. I've been taking her hoping the young one would pick up some tips. Both dogs have cabelas vests to help with the cold but not sure how to get my younger lab to adjust to the cold water. Any help would be appreciated.

very common in pups ( one year is still a pup) they get burnt out in the cold very quickly. a vest would certainly help, but since you have the other dog I would just leave the pup at home for the really cold days where you know you will be getting a lot of water retrieves. if you push her in this cold weather it might dampen her desire for water retrieves down the road. :twocents:
now let the comments on the merits FF begin.
