Title: nikon w/bdc anybody?
Post by: BLUEBULLS on December 08, 2011, 09:23:56 PM
I was in desperate need of a scope asap so i bought a nikon 4-12x40 with the bdc reticle. Put it on my m77 7mag, boresighted it and started shooting. I wasn't too sure of it until i started shooting. Started at your100 and worked out to 500 and my 500yard 3 shot groups averaged 4"!!! The bdc seems perfect, gun shoots the new handloads great and i'm happy as can be :IBCOOL: glass could be a little better but i'm happy as can be with it for the price. Anybody not like it?

I don't care for the reticle with the circles in it. I like mildots and line type subtensions.....but that's just me.

i got a couple of nikons with the bdc in them and they work for me, although i dont sight in at a normal interval, 175yd zero for me, so i had to shoot at various ranges to find out where each of the circles and each top and bottom of each circle put me really helps in judging hold over. did they make me an instant good long range shooter, no, but spinning turrets just isnt for me

I have one on my 300 WSM and I love it! but I haven't got into the fine workings of it to be honest, if you chrono and go to their site you can work in the whole picture and use inbetween the BDC and really zero into targets!

I have two of them, love them both, super clear optics, have not done much long range shooting with them though, one on a 223, other a 22-250

I have one on my 270wsm and love it. I went to the website and put in all my load data and it was right on. I printed out a cheat sheet and taped it to the stock. I have only used it once in Wy on a antelope and it did great!

you'll have to come out and shoot it!

A lot of guys aren't real happy with the accuracy from a Ruger M77 but I guess I got a good one.

I was completely amazed how it all turned out. My gun and loads must be perfect for the BDC because I used dead center of each circle and it shot perfect at 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500.

Not that I want to shoot big game that far, I prefer 12 and 15 yards, but I'll keep practicing just in case.

I really like my Nikon with BDC, go to Nikon spot on and you can put in your info and it till tell you right where each circle will be sighted in for.

I used a M77 for years, it wasnt that accurate, even with handloads, but that said, I got 4 antelope at just over 300yds with it.
