Title: Moultrie M80 stolen
Post by: DBHAWTHORNE on December 11, 2011, 12:14:01 PM: I had a Moultrie M80 stolen from the Colville National Forest on 8 December. It has DBHAWTHO on the pics. Man...there are some real losers out there! :bash: I just wish I would catch them in the act one time.

(Knock on wood) I have had a bear follow me around and rip all my cameras down. I finally had to take them out because he wouldnt quit. Those were the $59.99 35mm stealth cams from wallmart.(still my most reliable cam yet)
Sorry to here about your camera. Hope you catch the looser. >:(

Post by: DBHAWTHORNE on December 11, 2011, 08:37:37 PM: It was an opening in a fairly thick area. It was on the last day of late elk and the elk had come through that area. I am suspecting he was following their tracks and stumbled upon my camera and decided to help himself. :bash:

May carma forever capture does with that camera and maybe someday he will scroll back through your pics and realize they were the last images of a big buck ever captured with that unit.

2 of my buds have had their cams stolen on private property this year....... property that nobody else had permission to hunt so not only was there a trespasser on their ground, the trespasser also stole their cameras.

when i put cams on new ground and/or public ground, typically i will put another cam out facing the cam that i intend on getting pics of critters with and it will be VERY well hidden. that way, i can at least get pics of the idiot if somebody tries to take the cam. has worked a few times on some of the private ground i hunt. it is kind of a spendy way to set cams but it does work. on public ground, i usually leave a note in a ziplock bag stating that there is another camera taking a pic of whomever is reading the note...... have come back twice to cams moved on the tree, but not stolen. :chuckle:

can't wait till they start putting GPS in the cams....... i'd pay for it, especially for cams that i was putting out on public ground. either that or rig the camera to explode with the force of an M-80 if the lid is opened or the cable/strap is removed from the tree. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: seems like you can't trust anyone anymore. :bash:

wish we could also legally make trespassers (regardless of what they are doing be it hunting, hiking, walking the dog ect) pay the property taxes for the year when caught.

been keeping the feeders on our place working overtime to hold the deer till season is over. check this out...... i now have this pic and a "nice" little note laminated and taped to this feeder. :chuckle: sadly, trespassing is sooooooo common anymore whether it is just people thinking that they can take nature hikes, ride horses, walk the dog or hunt....... they just have no regard for property boundries. our place is posted to the hilt, i patrol the heck out of it, and i have welded blade strips to catch the guys that decide they would like to cut fences and drive their jeeps and ATVs on our ground. having said that, the guys that were trespassing with vehicles got the message last year after multiple sets of tires were filleted. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I had a one-way conversation with some trespassers on the land I was hunting Saturday night. I should have pulled it all that night. Nobody has any respect for private peoperty....until they own a piece.

I am with you on the GPS stuff. I would purchase it too. I think I might try adding one of those notes to my camera and randomly actually have a cam hidden and set up to catch thieves.
