I am sure everyone saw the survey, the results were overwhelming for approval. This looks to be on its way.

Those electronic devices will allow so many more birds to be decoyed in that they will drop the daily limits. Which is fine as many folks rarely shoot their limits when they do go out.

Never understood why we couldn't use them in the first place..

Electric decoys aren't the magic menace that they are portrayed to be and if you haven't used one, you are a victim of propaganda. They do serve as an attractor but the hunter still has to be able to set a decoy spread, call and shoot well and only take the allowed limit. Since the banning of the Robos a few years after they were legal in Washington, there are more Winduks in use than the number of electronics that they replaced and I've seen up to a dozen in one set. What is the difference between a goose flag and a remote Roboduck when it come to attraction and yet that isn't frowned upon. The ban wasn't a result of any proof of over harvesting; it was because someone on the commission didn't like them.

Most of the good waterfowl hunting land is sewed up by hunting clubs. I think it will help the DYI hunter on public land. The average hunter does not get his/her limit when they go out. So if this helps the DYI hunter then great.
If the DYI hunter gets a few more birds and it effects the limit number then so be it. I remember hunting and not getting 0 - 3 and on the private club they limit out.
I think over all it will work out.

As mentioned it is not a magic pill for anything. The birds will get used to them like everything else and depending on use may start flaring off them. Improper sets will still spook birds, sky busters will still miss shots, etc. No different that flagging, jerk cords, ice eaters, wind ducks, pull string spinners, air opperated spinners, drive line operated spinners, etc. that everyone has been using for quite some time. Only difference would be on non windy days you could use a remote vs. a pull string. You can throw a few shakers in the decoys vs. running lines back to the blind. What difference will it make. It won't! Period. Those can afford them will help to support the waterfowl industry and those that don't want to use them, they don't have to. Use the old tricks we have used for generations. I may have used spinners, pull strings, kick splash decoys a dozen time this year. I still shot birds doing just fine without them. You can't replace experience and years of time spent in the field with electronic decoys. Personally I don't think it makes a difference if they are legal or not. The one benefit is that your dog doesn't get tangled in various lines running to the blind. :twocents:
I would like the option of shakers in the decoys. Those go further than spinners in my book.

I remember when that survey came out and it sounded like the only way a hunter could say legalize them was to answer if they would allow for smaller bag limits and shorter seasons. And that scored low.
Basically that one question that said yes to electronic decoys as long as it doesn't affect the season or bag limits is really saying NO to electronic decoys witch most hunters answered.
IMO the conclusion of that survey, most hunters want to keep the seasons and limits the way they are over electronic deks.
