Thats all our family raised for decades. Used in field trials and great family dogs. We stopped breeding them and wish we hadnt. One of the best allaround bird dog there is.

You could use an english and register them as english. The Llew thing is nothing more than a name, and a name that screams massive inbreeding because to be considered " Llew" they have to trace back to 2 distinct dogs,Duke and Rhoebe.Hamstringed to breeding offspring to one another right out of the gate over 100 years ago.I've got english and they are all field stock, not a show dog anywhere to be found,on my pedigree program it allows one to go way back, mine go back all the way through all the big name heavy hitter pure llews, Count noble, whitestone, gladstone etc.My male resembles a llew more than he does an english,in head shape and size,he's a whopping 38 pounds

I realize that i could register a litter as english setter, and that may be what i have to do.  I am considering all my options.

Shouldn't breed males until they're about 2. If you do, make sure you have the bitch tested for vaginal cultures and brucellosis. One doggy STD and your boy will be sterile for life.

Thanks for the offer whiskers but 8 months is too young. You can still send me pictures though, I'd love to see your dog.  I want to make sure the stud has the desired characteristics.  I have stud dogs available, they are just not close as far as distance is concerned so i am fishing a little to make sure i get the best dog available.
