The NEWS reports Elk are non native and distroying The Ridge golf course. KOMO by the way. They are going to kill them to save the course!!! Any thoughts on this?
-
They will probably have a few master hunters take a few off the course.

thats the plan

"Controversial wolf plan voted in by the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission much to the dismay of the state's hunting community. Widespread fear and panic grips the hunting community, as they fear this is the beginning of the end for elk in Washington.
In other news, hunters are being contracted by the WDFW to kill elk at Hanford and on golf courses."

Why don't they just bring in a few wolves that the Western WA folks love so much?

I'm surprised the tribe isn't wanting to take care of the problem.

Since the elk are not Native, they are passing on this one! :yike:
-
Pure Crap.. Then they will only let the Master Hunters in there. This state is so stupid. The golf course is crying cause the elk are there. The elk where there before the fancy pants where there.
-
Not surpized at all!! :mor:
-
Pretty much iceing on the cake for how the state does not manage for the wildlife but for the allmighty dollar!!! Those rich folks living and playing golf are worth more in tax money than the "So called NON NATIVE ElK". The state definently gets the MORON award!!
-
Can I see a link to this? I Googled and got nothing similar, for some reason.

:lol4: - This is EXACTLY what the wolf cult says about hunters. Wolves were here before we were, and if we don't like them around that's just too damn bad

Tags for golfers? I'm just trying to think outside the box here. I've always wanted to bring a shotgun to a driving range and yell, "Pull!"

Here's an article I was sent yesterday:
http://snovalleystar.com/2011/12/12/state-ok%e2%80%99s-elk-hunting-to-curtail-damage-to-tpc-snoqualmie-ridge-golf-course
Should have done something about it years ago instead of letting it get this far :twocents:
-
Make the golf course put an Elk fence around their precious golf course. Typical rich people whinning. The Elk were there first. Or, have PETA chase the Elk off of the course. That way we can identify the real terrorists !
-
So are they suggesting that the golf course is native?

There is tribal land there. Ya know that big ol' casino that is right around the corner. Maybe the tribe could claim the elk, thataway, the golf course will have to be moved............... :chuckle: :chuckle:

Sounds like a good course to play archery golf... OOOOPS...FOUR

Sounds like they don't need some master hunters they need master shooters. If I were a master hunter i wouldn't even want to be a part of this, these guys will probably end up with their faces plastered all over the news for "murdering elk" what a crock. i agree with letting the rich guys put up an elk fence. :twocents:

Heard they shot a nice bull on the back 9 today, :)

http://www.king5.com/news/local/Elk-protest-135697558.html
Public outcry has apparently led to a reprieve for some elk that have been causing problems at the Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Course. Plans to allow hunters to shoot two elk at the course are on hold.

Wow, not a lot of love for WDFW or for Master Hunters today.
I suspect there are a lot more elk there now that a golf course is there instead of a bunch of thick brush. I personally have no problem with the state managing a hunt where they need to thin some off the course. I also think that the Master Hunter program is designed EXACTLY for this kind of thing.
I don't golf.... but geez some of you people are judgmental. I'd sure like to see what some of you would have to say if it were your livelihood being wrecked.
As for WDFW, I'm not the biggest fan, but I think they do the best they can under the circumstances. Waht are they supposed to do? Open a general season for 7 or 8 thousand guys to surround the golf course?
Flame away.....

It seems to me that if people may be a bit jelous that master hunters get a chance to harvest an elk. I say if you are, then put the work in to become one. If you do not agree with the program, then voice your opinion instead of sitting around complaing. Just my :twocents:
I am not a master hunter but I do seem to agree that the program has a purpose. If we just let any indiot with a tag on private land, they would do what they do with the state land. Kill animals illegally and leave there trash and beer cans all over. I know that would sure make me happy as a land owner.
-
WA could always follow suite with other states and pay a pro to come in a remove the elk. Me personally I would rather give this opportunity to a MH who spent maybe 8 to 20 hours this year helping the wildlife in this state than to have my tax dollors spent to pay someone to kill these elk.
-
I agree there is a loud "Holier Than Thou" attitiude here at H-W by some. (I tried to make light of this issue.) And yes, this is what the MH program is all about. This situation is on private property, they want the elk removed. How is it different than an Orchard? But, unfortunatly WDFW caved to emotions from people who care about how they feel, not ecomonics, not science, not management, or even a general season. Residents would want a professional paid by tax dollars to dispatch of these animals. Which is kind of what MH is supposed to be, just minus getting paid by tax dollars to do it.
Is this a "No Shooting Zone?" (Cause I don't know the area.) Is there a legal or scientific reason to no allow the harvest of these particular elk? Personally, a golf course tag, that's kind of a lifelong dream of mine. Add a few other of my favorite things and life would be perfect.
"I need a nine iron, and Oh, a 12 guage slug."
Would people here on H-W be as hard on a guy for using a golf cart to pack out the elk as they are on the ATV'ers?

:chuckle: Wonder if you could be fined for targeting elk with a golf ball, illegal gear maybe. :chuckle:
It is in a No Hunting area, from North Bend to Fall City seems to be a No Hunting area and the elk love it. No pressure to leave, and nice fields clear of all brush. The is no scientific reason to not allow harvest of these animals, just emotional ones. From what I understand the elk aren't even native to that particular spot. When the area was being logged they lived in those clearings further outside of Snoqualmie, but moved into town as golf courses and fields were cleared out and the loggers stopped creating suitable habitat.

The state needs to listen to the advise many on here have thats to shoot and shut up. When alaska decides to shoot problem wolves they shoot then tell they have taken care of the problem . Here if the dfw has an idea to do something they put it in the paper and news so everyone can have a say on the problem. If they need to adress a problem they should just call in the master hunters or who ever and solve the problem without everyone in the united states getting involved . Not meaning just the golf course but where ever there is a need to manage problem animals they need to just take care of it and shut up.
