On july 14 I got up let Ruger(my Pointing lab) and Rudy(German shorthair pointer) out for the morning to strech before being kenneled for the day while I was at work, got a 10 minute shower got dressed and headed outside got there and both where gone. I had just got Ruger back from bootcamp and I was so sick when after 12 hours of running everywhere and didnt find them. I live out east of Gold Bar so they could have gone up or down river. If any of you have any info please call me at 206-920-4612

Crap Whitey that's horrible news! I've been following this story and was hoping you would find them. Sorry for your loss.

I called and explained to the breeder and Rugers trainer Doug and Alice Burnett of Cooke Canyon,It was hard on them as well as Myself. We got to talking about this up and coming season and the plans I had for Ruger and Me, Doug said I have some started dogs if you are interested. He said for what kind of personality I have the started lab he didn't think would work,He said but I have a German wirehair pointer that would work. We talk a little about price and I was floored by his good will. So the "puppy breath thing" is what is needed, Not to mention this dog has already been through Doug's 2 month upland bird school and worked over on water retrieves. He said this dog is a great dog and He thought We would make a good team. So over to Cooke Canyon I go. Thanks again everybody..Whitey

Thats "Awesome....Awesome" new's Whitey.... make sure to post pic's.
You'll alway's have the memories, of your past 4 legged partner's.
We'll have to get together sometime with the dog's and do alittle hunting... I'll even let ya out shoot me...... which is acually a givin for anyone I hunt with.
-
Wayne on the point of getting a started dog, I was thinking I might be missing out on what I think is a very important part of the dogs life is the "bonding" We all do with are dogs when they are pups.I am kind of torn on this issue. Should We start another thread? What do you think?
-
Whitey... I love the puppy bonding stage's also, but I have had dog's that I've saved from either along side the road, and from the pound. All older dog's, and have had just as strong a bond as I've had from a puppy. On a side note... none of those dog's were my hunting partners, so don't know if that would have made a difference in the field. If it were me in your shoe's... I'd go spend a day with the dog... when it's time for you to leave... you'll know what's the right thing to do. Good Luck... I really hope this work's out for ya.
-
Sorry to hear about the news Derek!! I know how much you care for your dogs. Wounds will heal in time but memories will be there for as long as you live. I hope your new dog works out. Take care of yourself.
-
Dang Whitey, am very sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully the wirehair will help absolve you and your family of some of the pain being felt at this point. Good luck, and sorry for your loss.
