I've always made my own targets but, I have lost the access to materials so, this year I have to buy one. I have no experience with bought targets. Should I go bag or block? Can you shoot broadheads into a bag? Anyone have any tips on making one that I haven't used?

The block, no question I have shot both and it is hands down the best

cant shoot broad heads into a bag only field points but the arrows pull super easy. they also dont seem to last as long as a block in my experience. blocks are a lot harder to pull arrows out of, but seem to last a lot longer if you buy a decent one and you can shoot both broad heads and field points at them. i have a bag and a block. i use the block for my broad heads and the bag for field points.

I had the block (the big expensive one) and it lasted about one season, it's a piece of junk and my broadheads tore it to shreds... I would buy the glendale full rut instead. or go get yourself a few pieces of insulation (can't remember the r value) but the blue stuff and cut it up and make your own block

There was a guy on here talking about using Handi Foam to make his own. Hope he posts. I'd like to try that but instructions would be nice

The Block has lasted me for two and a half years and still has some life left in it. I only shoot broad heads maybe two percent of the time and obviously this accounts for a more disproportionate share of the wear. If I shot BHs more I could see myself feeling like Adam. Im sure if I made mt own target it would be a lot heavier and bulky which is a factor if you aren't going to do all your practice in your back yard. I will buy The Block again.

Do not shoot a broahead into a bag. You can shoot field tips into a block all day long. Reinhart 18-1 is the way to go. A little more money but if you shoot it out in 1 yr you get a new one for free :tup:

Both...Go to Home depot and get the shrink wrap for the block yard....tons of the stuff available in the spring. You have to separate the layers real good or you arrows will be a pain to get out. Order some Ames target pillow.

Stuff that baby real full. The shrink wrap will last you almost for ever...just change the bag as required and keep it dry. This is the best field tip target for $10. Broad heads use a block or a good 3D target...get a big one. If you only use the block/3D for broads a few times a year it will last a long time.

:yeah: i've put old blue plastic tarps and grociery bags in them and they work gooddddddddddd. Then for an inexpensive broad head target a pice of 2in 2x8' pink foam ut into 2x2 pieces 4 thick then ductaped together...

I suggest both. You can't beat a bag target for field points, there is no block target that is easier to pull out, and they last forever. Not sure what you mean by block target, but I am just talking about the general block targets, not the "Block" brand targets, although I do shoot a Block brand block target, but either way thats about your only choice for broadheads, since you can't use broadheads on a bag target, and broadheads pull out much easier in the block targets than field points.

Have a reinhart and it is the best all around target bar none! I go through a set of replacement vitals on my glendell every year. Broadheads tear it up bad. You can shoot broadheads all day long at the reinhart :tup:

I've used a 50 lb sized chicken food bag, plasticky one not paper, and have been stuffing it full of grocery bags and other plastic bags in order to make a bag target. I mostly shoot target points to keep my arm in shape and just practice shooting. I look forward to pulling arrows more easily than out of my foam target.
