Im looking for a good gun smith on the west side that can and will install a muzzle break?
-
Call Chris at Benchmark barrels in Arlington. I used to send all my work out of state, I have had them do my last three brakes and thread protectors and I have been very pleased with their work and turn around time. They take care of the local guys. Here is some of the work they have done for me.
It really helped with recoil on the .375 Ultra Magnum. The brake turned out great and performed exellent but there was no way to match the color of the barrel and the brake. Due to the fact the brake is bead blasted stainless and the rifle has the Remington XCR coating.

The first and second brakes they did on my 450 Ultra Magnum.

is there any way a brake can be used and not affect your ears. man they do a number on the hearing. do they make a 30% or a 40% or a 50% brake? i think i got a 150% brake for my 7 mm cause it will move you hearless in a few shots. huh, huh, huh. mike w

Some are better than others. I had one on a browning a bolt that made it feel like my ears were gonna bleed. The one on my weatherby isn't too bad as the shooter, being next to it when it goes off doesn't feel good though.

I hate brakes (on guns) without hearing protectin on while hunting you stand a good chance of damaging your hearing. I have had gunsmiths put Limbsaver recoil pads on all my heavy kickers. My 300 Weatherby and my 30/378 shoot like modest calibers now and I don't have to put up with that ridiculous muzzle blast. :twocents:
If you are set on a brake, I know some of these guys mentioned do good work.

I have to disagree on part of that I had him do two and they where built well and worked well but he messed up two rifles by not using proper vise pads and then tried his best to get out if fixing it right and the stainless break didn't even make it the boat ride to the north end of chelan before rusting

for a ruger m77 mark II 7mm rem mag it dont kick very much but i wouldnt mind for it to kick a little less just the main reason for getting or staying on target after the shot. its my all around gun pretty much bear deer and elk
