Title: Ok. ok.. So maybe it's not soo bad... :) (Jerky)
Post by: Camo Queen on December 31, 2011, 12:32:17 PM
So, I've been completely against making jerky with a jerky gun because I felt it was cheating :) ... but my hubby got the Cabelas Jerky Blaster gun for x-mas so I figured wth... I'll give it a try. I gotta say, it made some killer jerky, and was a LOT less work than slicing and hanging all the little pieces of jerky with toothpicks. I used the hi-country seasoning and added some other stuff for some extra zing :) Then stuck it in the dehydrator for 12 hours, rotating the racks every couple of hours. Now I just need to get it put away before I eat it all.  :chuckle:

If you're just starting out making jerky, this definitely wouldn't be a bad way to go. Jerky came out consistent and didn't have to baby sit it too much. Love the hi-country seasonings too. Speaking of... USPS just delivered my package with more seasoning. Looks like i'll be making more :)

I know, I know!!  :chuckle: I have a batch going in the Little Chief today so we'll see how that turns out.. It's just not big enough and I hate that you can't control the temp at all...  I DEFINITELY want to build a smoker this year. We're getting more and more into making sausages and jerky and all that good stuff, so it's time to upgrade..
