Needing some opinions.....
I purchased one of these sights to go on my new Knight DISC Extreme. When I try to mount it using the rear scope mount holes, it interferes with the bolt handle lift. Is there any reason not to use the forward scope mount holes? Would it defeat the purpose of the peep sight? I called Williams and they had no idea why it gets in the way of the bolt handle.
What would you guys do?

Have someone hold it in the forward position and test it. Likely the hole will be too small to see through in the forward position but with a large enough aperture, might work for you. Sucks that it doesn't fit as it should. I do love using peeps though.

Those peeps are awesome, but the customer service is less than desirable. Good luck!

Well if Steve @ Williams said it should mount you now have my curiosity peaked...
OK - i am sitting here with my Big Horn with a Williams FP sight mounted in the rear scope holes... There are 3 holes that make up the rear scope mount. To get the FP to work on my Big Horn it HAS to be me mounted in the front 2 holes of the rear scope mount.
Now I have my DISC and it appears that you most also mount the FP in the front two holes so the bolt handle will clear... When I flip it over - ifthe FP is mounted in the fron two holes it should still clear the bolt 'quick release' pin.
So my question is... have you tried mounting it in the front two hole of the rear mount? If so what gets in the way when you do?
The other question you bring up - yes, I believe it will still be effective if mounted in the forward scope holes...
Let me know what you find... I can get some pictures on this end if that would help.
But from here it really looks like it might work... I do not have a bare DISC to try it on myself.

Mike, I have it mounted using the two foward holes. The bolt hits the rear corner nearest the bolt. Do you think it could be the Western Conversion? Maybe the bolt handle is different? I can email a pic if need be.

Good talking to you... hope it works...

Can you do a little creative filing w/o messing up the integrity of the sight?

I would mount it on the front holes and get an aperture that works for your purposes. Hunting apertures should be larger than target apertures anyway, for fast sighting. I have a tang-mounted peep sight on my sidelock .54, so there is no conflict there. Aperture sets are available to see what you like, or just order a bigger size.
Many people use peep sights the wrong way, and complain when the results are less than desireable. You should look at the front sight through the peep sight without conciously trying to center the bead in the hole. your brain will do that for you. if you try to center the front sight, you'll get a different point of impact at the target every shot.

Thanks for everything, Mike. I learned a lot from talking to you this morning. I hope to have another chance sometime.
