Title: new use for a trail camera
Post by: vandeman17 on January 19, 2012, 06:48:04 PM
I got a new trail camera for christmas and have yet to get it out in the woods and have been itching to get it out. For the longest time we have been thinking that our cats have been getting up on the counters but we could never catch them. Sometimes at night we could hear them jump down. I decided to put my camera in the pantry towards the counter and this is what I found...  :bash:

Nice.  Hopefully you can pattern them and get yerself a harvest.  Tough to get them when they go nocturnal.  Maybe get some salt lick and some kitty jam.  But anyways, dems some nice ones!   :chuckle:

One time I put mine by the couch pointing towards the kitchen and went to work. When I came home I was surprised at what I found, my wife doing the dishes :yike: rare occasion! :chuckle:

My boss was having a problem with there cat's not using the litter box all of a sudden and could not figure out why or which one of the two was doing it. So I gave him 1 of my camers showed him how to set it up and after 3 days they found out the problem a stray cat was coming in there cat door and marking the basement. So he "removed" that problem. I think we all would be amazed what our cats do when were away!

That is pretty funny right there! We are planning on putting some tin foil on the counter and setting up the camera again tonight. Could get some pretty funny pictures from that!  :chuckle:

Good catch, time for the cats to go outside.

Nice elk shed in the background.

They would die if they went outside. They are two wimpy, pampered cats! Those sheds are a matching set I found in Idaho last year. Still need to score them

Try a couple mouse traps. Worked for us.

My boy wanted to set ours up to get Santa last year, so I did.  Waved a hat in front of it for some action shots.   :chuckle:   :chuckle:

I brought my electric fence charger in the house and hooked up a few wires.  That got results fast!  We couldn't get those cats close to the counters again!

i too had a cat coming in the kitty door, peed on bookcase. i blamed my poor kitty and almost had him go bye. got a pic of the bad kitty that was coming in and eating food.. and then he "all of a sudden" stopped coming around.   as for the counter problem.... my gray cat would jump on the table and curl up... so i set some brand new clean mouse traps where she would land when she jumped up...snap, snap.... no more kitty on table....

So far, the foil has kept the cats off the counter. I kept my camera out a few more nights and only got pictures of us getting up in the morning. Boy do I look like DEATH when I stumble out to the kitchen!   :yike:

Naughty kitties.  I was trying to get some cats to stay around and in my barn and I was monitoring them with one of my cameras for awhile.  This picture was one of them with a spectator trying to get in the hole.

I have an idea.  Cats are know to be spitefull.  I believe cats will wipe their but on your pillow when you are gone.  This would be a great time to check it out!

:yeah:

We had a cat getting on top of the fridge and dragging off loaves of bread. Never could catch em at it. (this was pre-trail cam days). The mouse traps worked like a charm.

If you really want to have fun, put pieces of duct tape on the counter, sticky side up.  just be sure to wear welding gloves when you go to pull the tape off the cat!  :chuckle:

That is a good idea too because the foil didn't seem to work last night. Might have to try the duct tape.  :chuckle:

I have a few coyote traps that you can set to- not brake a bone- if you want to barrow.
