Title: Cold weather and trail cam?
Post by: Craig on January 23, 2012, 08:03:03 PM
What is the coldest weather that your trail cam has been in and still took pictures? What brand is your cam? I left one up in Montana and am wondering if it will make it through the winter. It's a Trophy cam.

I left mine in the alpine in Southeast Alaska for two months and it made it though, but it wasn't there over the winter. I was concerned that the freezing/thawing over and over plus all the rain and sleet would start to get to it, but it was fine. I did have a bear moving it for me and then it took about 50 pics of moving branches during a wind storm.

The batteries were pretty much dead when I went to get it, although it still took a pic of me untying it from the bushes. I think the combo of the cold and wind storm branches pics killed the batteries. I bet yours will be fine, just dead batteries when you get it.
