I have a Charles Daly 12ga 3" semi auto that apears to have a piece of free floating metal in the bolt group that is causing it to lock shut :bash:. Occasionaly i can see it from the hole that the charging handle is in. Does anyone have any advice. Charles daly is out of business correct? :bash: Can i still get it factory repaired anywhere? :dunno: Any advice or input will be helpful as am am nowere near being a gunsmith. Oh yea Is this a common problem?

Did you buy it new? If so I would take it back to the dealer and have them send it in for repair. I know a lot about shotguns could you maybe post a picture? Is it a shard or sliver or is it a piece that looks like it belongs? I hate to say it but i have seen a disturbing amount of flaws with the newer charles daly stuff. If you post a picture I could probably help. FYI you should be able to take the bolt fully apart and see what is causing the problems, just dont lose any of the springs or detents etc.

Did weatherby buy out charles daly?
-
Nevermind I was confused for that last post. For some reason I was thinking you had a weatherby semi . Anyways Bolsa Gunsmithing (714) 894-9100. they have done charles daly gun smithing in the past and I believe was at one time contracted with charles daly. They are in fact out of business. If you dont want to go to Bolsa you should be able to go to any other gunsmith.

Crazy ....I have a 20 ga and it has been an awesome gun for the kids.... We used to buy alot of them for the NWTF Banquets and never had any problems ...As far as them being out of business I am not sure about that .... May want to try a remington dealer... I had trouble getting different chokes for my sons gun and I called and remington had the chokes I wanted ....
