I have been watching a coyote for the last couple of weeks from my kitchen window. It follows the same path everytime I see it and I always lose it in a ditch bank. I am sure it has a den there. How do you get them out of their den. Calling? Smoke? Dig? This den is about 500 yards from my house where I raise quail. I don't need any more predators, the hawks are bad enough :bash:
Any suggestions!

A big rock... :chuckle:
On a more serious note, if your not in town, just sit out near there and wait for him to emerge.... whammo, problem solved.
-
Yeah, wait or get one of R&R's predator calls and call her out.

In the old days you used one of them devices called a snare........nowadays, you must sit down and consult with the coyote and formally agree to terms how the hunt is going to take place. THen you need to hire a consultant to make sure you are properly permitted and so forth. If the hunt does take place, make sure you get him and not just wound him as he is very likely to sue you. :)

Flare gun during wet weather if you are not worried about pelt damage.

Many great suggestions
I tried to smoke one out once- lit an inner-tube on fire and stuffed it down the hole. Result- burnt fingers and froze my ass off waiting. No coyote :( New Idea, dig him out, ground was so frozen that I almost rolled the front-end loader :bdid: No coyote yet.
This is a different den and I Appreciate the new Ideas :IBCOOL:

where are you located at?
-
I have a farm in Warden, pheasant hunting is getting worse every year. I believe the coyotes are partly to blame.
-
 well I hope that yote tournament coming up there helps with that
-
Just set one of those star exploding targets in the entrance, back up a ways, and blow it up. :chuckle:
-
Just watch......

The den is a coyotes fortified castle and they know it. You will never get them out if they don't want to leave. If there aren't any other animals running around nearby and you're really mad, just put some antifreeze in a bowl in front of the den. (Please don't actually do this.)
-
The round up helps
The coyotes seem to reproduce faster than unemployed white-trash. :chuckle:
'Yote population never goes down in our area.
-
Ahh, the naysayers.

The way we get rattlesnakes out of a den is bring a section of garden hose and a gallon of gas. Put the hose into the den and pour some gas in it. Then blow in to the hose to get the fumes way into the deepest part of the den. The snakes came pouring out of the den. Or for coyotes do all the steps above and then pour a line of gas from the den entrance to about 50 ft. away from the den and then strike a match to the gas leading back to the den. If you want them to come out faster use high octane :chuckle:

Dupont coaxer! ;)

:) I love coyotes the more they are hunted and killed the more the survivors breed. shoot it before it goes in????

500 yards of garden hose and a really good well.... :chuckle:

could you put a live trap outside the hole and catch it as it goes? maybe throw a string of firecrackers in there.
As for highcountry's video....would like to see the look on that guys face if he reached in for a yote and ended up grabbing a wolf!!!

Ken, that's funny! Wouldn't it be more "coyote noodling"?
-
I was disappointed in the video. I was waiting for the guy to pull his hand out with the teeth end of the coyote hitched to it!
-
Go buy a good Rib eye steak and tie a string to it and lower it into the hole , wait a minute and pull it out slowly ...be sure to be ready with a pistol and as soon as he shows himself ....LET HIM HAVE IT 8)
-
Tell him he's won a $500 Hooters gift card and a big screen TV
-
The only thing missing from the vid was the guy shot the dog with a rifle. That was a classic set up for shotgun. Ready.....PULL......boom!!!
-
Depending on the depth and shape of the den you could try barb wire. read somewhere that the old timers would stick a chunk of barb wire down in the dens and twist. the barb wire gets tangled in the fur and theoretically you can then pull them out. not sure if it works or not ive never been *censored* enough to hang on to peice of wire with a pissed off coyote at the other end.
-
I had one in a den this year when we were dove hunting. I tried to beat it to his den "with a shotgun" but I am not as fast as a yote :chuckle: Man he was in there snarling and growling! I got a flash light on stuck it in there to see if I could see him and all I could here is him growling. My buddy was on the ground laughing so hard. I told him if it jumps me he might have to shot it off me "joking" he said he would be laughing so hard he would shot me and the yote would get away :chuckle:
-
It would seem that you need to spend some more time watching coyotes though a scope instead of the window! Doesn't an upstanding redneck like you have a rifle? Or do we just need to chip in and get you some shooting lessons!
:chuckle:

Lol no we were out dove hunting in a stubble field. I saw it come running across the field towards the den. I knew right where the den was and took off running trying to bet it to the den. Like I said I am not as fast as a yote and he beat me to the den. If I was in my truck I could have drove over to his den and beat him there by a long shot. We only had our shotguns because we were out dove hunting. I knew where the den was because I found it with my back tire on my combine :bash: I thought for sure I broke the axle when it dropped into the den. I had a vendetta on those yotes after that. Oh and I think you know I have a few guns  got to give me a little more credit then that :chuckle:
-
I am all for flash bang grenades... then a back hoe... :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Thats funny Carp, but that was actually directed to the FLATLANDER that started the thread. ;)

Bobcats like drain pipes too. I've seen drain pipes with canned cat food in 'em.

Nothing that cannot be solved with a suitable charge....of Dupont.
-
I knew a spot that has a bunch of old drain pipes. They will run in there and you can't get them out. I always wanted to duct tape a knife on a remote control car and send it down the pipe to encourage them to leave :chuckle:

Patent pending... :chuckle:

First, you go and buy a nice porterhouse and throw it on the grill.
Second, start a nice good pot of pork and beans on the grill as well
Third, put the cornbread in the oven
Four, once it's all completed put it on a plate for me to consume
Five, point me in the directoin and I'll take care of your problem, no questions asked! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Bear in mind he didn't say to assemble these in any way nor did he say to add anything to the mix.

I ran a coyote into a culvert ONCE! The only rifle I had was a 30-06. I was about 17 years old at that time. I could see his eyes halfway down the pipe. I decided to shoot him in the pipe :bdid:
The concussion blew my hat off and rung my ears pretty bad. Then I had to find something to get him out because it was our own field culvert and Dad would've been pissed if it plugged and flooded the road :chuckle:
