I tied this for the Babine, but never made it up to fish. I've caught one on the Methow and two on the Wenatchee using this fly. I guess it would make a good bass fly too.
I was never very good at spinning hair. Probably one of my best efforts.

Not very good at spinning hair? That looks like a damn good job to me! Good looking fly  and I would think that the bass would eat that up!

Thanks guys. I got to use some of my own deer an moose hair on it too. That makes it extra sweet.

some of the coolest footage i have ever seen was of lonnie waller waking dries up on the babine! that would be fun! one of these years i will sacrifice a week of elk season and head up there

Thats a pretty good Waller Walker to my eye. With my own flies I classify the best ones as "fly shop material." They are not always "fly shop" grade but they still fish. That fly looks "fly shop" grade to me. Maybe a little tighter with the packing but not a bad fly.

nice looking fly. as mentioned maybe a little tighter packing but your proportions, think the most important thing are very good. I would be proud of that fly.
It took a few years for me to learn the secrets of spinning deer hair and packing the hair together so it is tightly packed.
Most of my flies are not professional grade by any means but they do catch fish.

Nice fly good job.I had one rise to the same fly on the deschutes once stopped my heart he never took it but that was incredible.

I have yet to have a steelie take a waking fly myself.
Have had lots of Coho take big pink monstrosities though. Anything on the surface is just awesome.

I have never fished the Methow. When is it good to go? I heard the fish are freaking huge and agressive.

Oct Nov but this fish run small there. I caught on 31 inches but most run around 25 inches.
it receives a lot pressure. The Klick is the place to go if you want to catch steal head on top in WA. I like to skate an Oct caddis.

Bone, tie up some Bulkley Moose's too, and make a trip up there, and bring the lenses. I'm sure you can get some good pics up there, depending on the weather.
I spent about 30 hours trying to raise a fish with those, and got two rises, but never could connect. Someday!

MAN that would be a photo!

I was fishing for steelhead and watched a big fish slurp two stones off the surface in the same spot. I tied a big orange sofa pillow on and first pass. WHAM. 8 pounds of bull dog action. It ended up being a big dolly. Beautiful fish. No pics for obvious reasons.

have had good luck swinging bomber Patterns for Atlantic salmon in Quebec and in Russia. Really neat to see a 40 inch Salmon sitting on the bottom of a deep pool come and smack your skating fly. Of corse it typically takes at least 8 hours of swinging before a hit. Sometimes more. usually happens when your not paying attention and miss the strike :chuckle:

or when the dang thing is dangling in front of you flopping in the water and you are playing with the flybox, or reel, or.....
