So I have this bronco that im workin on. Good running 400 in it. Anyways, it has a suspension lift, don't know how big and clears the bald 35s no problem. And the the rear wheel wells are rusting out. One is really bad so I'm thinking I'm just gonna cut the fenders and do some fender flares. So here's the question. After cutting the Fenders how big of tires do you think I can fit on it? I was thinking 37s but a guy has 39.5s I can get for dirt cheap with some tread left on them. And I don't want to do a body lift on it. So what do you guys think?

without actually seeing how much clearance you have that is a tough question to answer. However when you get into tire sizes that big you also have to consider width as well, especially up front.

Exactly. Some pictures would help but with what you are saying, I am thinking it could be a tight squeeze, especially on sharper turns or on uneven ground.

Let me know if ya scrap the truck.  Front axles from a 78-79 bronco fit right under a dakota   :IBCOOL:

My phone doesn't want to post pics at the moment for some reason. The tires I'm lookin at are 39.5 and 13.50 wide on 15 inch rims.

I would think they would, but stock, you will be rubbing the radius arms/frame from the insides of the tires. On my 67' I had lifted 3.5 (Duff syspention) then 2" body, cut fenders, and rubbed the extended radius arms til i spaced out.
broncograveyard.com  they have killer lift systems for you if you decide to go that route.

Yeah I've been on bronco graveyard a bunch! I'm trying not to put too much money into it at the moment. If i was going to do that then id do 1 ton axles with lockers, and a huge lift. Haha. I got a great on the truck and trying to just make into mostly a fun toy.

You could solve the steering rub by just getting a more offset wheel. Like running a duelly rim backwards. LOL. Not sure you want to go down that road.  :chuckle:

Going from 35s to 39s is a big jump without changing gears. You're going to loose some of you're lower end power both from the weight and final gear ratio of larger tires. Not always worth it in the long run especially after you factor in added repairs from turning that much weight on stock axles. I'm sure there are some that get away with it and never have major problems. Then there are others who have to replace axle shafts, ball joints, and wheel bearings frequently from the added stress. Factor all of that in and all you're left with is the cool look and 2 inches of added ground clearance under the pumpkin.

I'm not saying don't do it. Just be sure it's worth it first. A lot more to consider than wether or not they will fit.

another concern after you get those hogs on there, another issue is going to be stopping them on a stock brake setup unless you plan on upgrading that as well.
