im contemplating selling my glasply 20 cuddy i figure i could get at least 5000$ for it, and any money generated by the sale, is going straight into another boat. the problem is finding the next boat.
i need a boat made for saltwater, not too bad on fuel, and something you can go fishing year-round in that is a dry, safe ride
im thinking about another glasply, but something bigger than 20 feet...
what would you get if you had 5000$ to spend on a boat?

A 20' glassply is a real nice ride. is yours the hardtop? it is hard to find a boat with the quality of a glassply in the price range you are looking at. I would recommend a hardtop if you are thinking 4 season fishing. I had an older trophy in 21' that was a real dream fishing in the cold weather. I will keep my eyes peeled for something. what kind of fishing do you do?

yeah hard top is the only way to go...
to be more specific, my glasply is a 1978 hard top, cuddy cruiser, with the 170hp merc 470 (4banger), 60gal fuel tank, 230 (origional hours), 24mile radar, dual radios, heated cabin, awesome funky 1970s red marble-esque cushions, so on and so forth.... she isnt pretty, but is a workhorse. i layed the boat out and set it up for fishing out of neah bay...it may only be 20 feet, but its no puddle pirate. ive had it out when it was blowing 50+, no idea how big the swells were, but, got maytag-ed and made it home dry as a bone...
fishing? blackmouth, summer salmon, halibut, lings, misc bottom fish, anything that swims... it really doesnt matter what... if i can get a day to go fishing, im out there, unless its suicidal weather conditions...

your size boat is about the perfect size for our waters here. Neah to San Juans. water never gets really nasty. if ya wanna go outside at Neah or Westport, you pick your days. Yours sounds like it is set up really nicely. 5K for your boat would HAVE to include all the add-ons. 5K for a new, bigger boat wont have all the goodies. You would have to add them. More $$$ spent on a boat that may or may not be better than your current ride :twocents: You have a good ride, ride it
