Title: Free Float Question
Post by: dannysdaddy on February 13, 2012, 07:45:54 PM
anyone have any advice on how to mount a picitanny rail n the bottom of a freefloat tube to mount a bipod?  I have seen people take them off to do it but they never line up correctly.  is the metal thick enough to really tap threads?  this is on an AR15.

i would think you could put a nut and bolt into your handguard. i don't think there is enough material there to thread

Just drill it slightly over your screw size and put nut on the other side/ inside.

I have drilled and tapped several tubes for rails. they are thick enough as long as you have the correct drill and tap.
