Not true... You must have 400" of visible "hunter orange".... Not that I care... It's in the regs....

yes 400 square inches. Typicaly a vest and hat. I have never heard of a agent getting out a tape measure. But look at small kids, there is no way that their vest is 400 square inches.
If you have vest on most game agents will not bother you. I have been checked many times with a black hat and an orange vest. Never anything said.
And in this state cammo orange is legal.

I heard an unsubstantiated story of someone that did create a legal orange hat. Of course, it would take a mighty big head to have that much orange, so it makes the story suspect. :chuckle:

"If a baseball hat were the shape of a hemishere, the area would be 2x 3.14 x radius squared. so a size 7 and a half would have a radius of 3.75 inches. 2 x 3.14 x 3.75 x 3.75 =88.31 sq inches Then the area of the bill must be added. It appears that a man's XL orange baseball cap would just make the 100 sq inches. However a man's small or youth size would not.
The interesting part is that those orange knit watch caps wouldn't make 100 sq inches unless the person had a size 8 head. "

Apparently in PA they have 2 different restrictions for Blaze orange. A hat is sufficient for hunting ground hogs but 250 square is required for deer.:chuckle: That would be a sight to see.
