Title: S&W sigma SW40ve?
Post by: steelhead13 on February 26, 2012, 07:25:16 PM
I was looking at one of these online and it was a good price but i personally have never shot or handled one.  I was wondering if anyone has any info on how they shoot?

Just picked one up last week! For the price, I'm amazed at the quality! Very accurate! Very comfy to carry. All around solid gun!

The only bad thing i have found is that they have a hard trigger pull.  Is it that bad? 12-14 lb

Not that bad at all. I thought I would have a problem with it as well but it is surprisingly smooth! Where do you live?

The one I had I ended up selling after about 2 months because of the trigger pull. Supposedly if you fire or dry fire it enough it gets better, but the one I had I put 400+ rounds through it and dry fired with a snap cap for another 600+ trigger pulls and it was still ridiculously heavy trigger pull.

The trigger pull can be greatly reduced by the simple removal of a spring in the trigger group.  YouTube it.

They are a Glock knock-off, you need to remove one of the springs to make them shoot-able. With a 12+ lb trigger you will be lucky to hit the broad side of a barn with one while unmodified.

there have been some problems with the sigmas over the years but they should be worked out by now.. there are a copy of the glock mechanism. Smith even got sued for copyright infringement and had to pay royalties.. function wise it will probably be fine, mine was. The good news is the trigger pull is really rough, probably 12 lb pull. for that price range I'd get a ruger p95 before I'd get a sigma, just because of the trigger..
