Title: Savage 340B .222 Scope questions
Post by: tjthebest on February 26, 2012, 07:34:59 PM
My dad has a Savage 340B .222 Scope and we are trying to look for a an adjustable zoom scope for it. It already has the weaver 1" side mount on it. The problem with these rifles is alot of the scopes wont fit on it because it gets in the way of the bolt operation.

Does anyone own one of these with a scope or know which scope might fit on it? Im not looking to go over the 150 dollar range.

I know you can get offset mounts so the scope sits off to the side at about a 45 degree angle.

Look for a scope that does not have a fast focuse eye piece, the eye piece is usually smaller in diameter.  A couple that come to mind are the Weaver Classic V 2x7 or 3x9, Leupold V-I 2x7 or 3x9 and the epRedfield line.

If it has an early. Weaver side mount you will have to grind the area between the rings to clear the full saddles windage adjustments on the newer scopes
