Title: Fighting beavers?
Post by: 3nails on March 05, 2012, 08:36:40 PM
The last 5 beavers we have trapped had gashes in thier backs about 6" up from the tail and an inch or two long. At first I thought it might be from a sharp object inside the cage but the last two were in cages that had nothing sharp in them. I am wondering if maybe they fight this time of year? Anyone else see this?

Welcome to spring beaver trapping.  Actually though, you can see that kind of activity at any time of year especially where there are high beaver populations whose territories overlap.

Yep, The more beaver the more bites. Worst in the spring.
