Who all is going to attend? Last chance (kind of) to have the WDFW Game Commission here your opinion. I will be there.... 5 hour drive sucks though.
-
I know killbilly is going.
-
I can't get out of work. Clever having it on a Friday. Give them hell for us!
-
Just got back to work so my plans on being there are dashed.
-
CAn't wait for a reply, I agree having it on Friday is bogus for the big game stuff that people really care about.
-
I really think it is by design. Yes, I believe in conspiracy theories when it comes to certain government actions.
-
I don't believe Washington is the only state to hold their Commission meetings on weekdays. If you look around, you'll find it's quite common.
-
Okay, so WA isn't the only state that doesn't want many hunters showing up. :IBCOOL:
-
any reports from yesterday since that was the good stuff?

Dave Ware (WDFW Game MAnager) removed the night hunting proposal from consideration. The two most heated agenda items were... waterfowl electronic decoys and lighted nocks... no surprise there.

:yeah:
It was a little different from many other meetings I have attended. There was not as much public input on some topics but the Department did present a plethora of info on Moose, Mountain Goat, Sheep, and Cougar. Besides myself, there were only two other testimonies presented on the Cougar topic. Since I had a long drive back, I left after the Cougar discussion.
The lighted nock issue was definately interesting in that the reasoning behind it's use was the recovery of game. I cannot understand the mentality of an Archer that would admit to shooting and not recovering in as many as 2 out of three instances. This was brought up in testimony given yesterday and seems to be the primary objection by some parties. i.e. not so much the use of the device but the devisive and manipulative reasoning behind it's intended use.

So what do you guys think? Any chance at all of getting our 1 day back for elk season and from the 8th to the 21st?
-
Dreamin,
I doubt we will get it changed for this year... but the seed is planted, and hopefully we can keep hammering them and get it for next year... they do review dates even during the 3 year process.

My brother and I went to the meeting on Saturday. First they talked about how implementation of the wolf plan was going. They are going to hire 2 level 2 biologists and at least one more trapper. They talked about the new public wolf reporting page on the WDFW website and showed a map of unconfirmed wolf sightings that they attributed to the Hunting Washington web site.
During the public input that started at 10:30 we watched the new commissioner Jay Kehne. When the comments were anything anti wolf his face was bright red and he had a big frown. When the one lady from Conservation Northwest was commenting was the only time he had a smile on his face. There was no question where his priorities lie.
We left after the public comments period because all they were going to discuss was water rights in Okanogan county.

Thanks for the report guys!!
