just wondering if anyone hunts the NE corner for elk? I have seen elk up there, just wondering what the hunting pressure was.

I had scouted some elk a few years ago in the huckleberry unit. I thought I had them locked up. Never had seen any body up there at all. Got there about an hour before sunup and there were 9 trucks parked in the spot I wanted. As soon as it was light it sounded like a war zone. 2 or 3 elk were shot exactly where I was going. I've also hunted up by North and South Baldy in 113 and there were quite a few hunters. There are to many hunters for my liking during deer & elk seasons.

there is a fair amount of pressure anywhere elk exist in wa. I doubt you can find many places w/o pressure considering the rediculously short season.

:yeah:

Don't see near as much pressure in the archery or muzzleloading seasons.

There are elk there, but you need to find the thickest part of the country side you can find. They travel in small bands from what I've experienced hunting there (usually around 49 and Ione) and you may go a couple seasons without even seeing an elk. If you have permission on private ground that is different. Lots of elk near the town of metaline (private) I have friends that teach at the Selkirk HS and they see elk every morning on the football field.

seems like eastern has crowded elk hunting, i'd hunt west side if its closer for you

Plenty of places to get away, not looking or hiking far enough.
