Howdy. I have been asked to tie up a few dozen steelhead jigs for an upcoming educational foundation auction. I have tied up a couple dozen standard patterns (nightmare, pink and purple, white and peach, chartruce, etc. I was wondering what your favorite patterns are or any that you could suggest. I am having tier's block and want some patterns that will actually catch fish for the winning bidder and not just tie up some stuff that will sit in their tackle box.
Thanks!

orange and white, with red and white. i caught 4 the other day on that color combo

I have been tying them and some have been working. I have been pretty successful with orange and yellow for Chums.
-
Personally, all I ever use are pink and white. My dad loves magenta ones also.
-
This is right up my alley.
Peach and orange (subtle difference but looks good.)

Thanks for the ideas. Here is what I have so far.
Cerise and purple
Cerise and flame
Night mare standard
My own Night mare with red and gold cactus (my buddies beg me to make more of those)
Peach, apricot and white
Chartruce with chartruce cactus
Chartruce and flame
Black and pink
I mixed up some chartruce and hot pink powder coat and came up with a decent orange and poured up a couple dozen jigs. Going to try some of your suggestions and see where it lands. Thanks again for the ideas!

Good post,
lets see some pictures. What about float type jigs like the Areo jigs. I have seen some tipped with rubber worms are those a joke?
-
Now they are NOT a joke. They actually work pretty good in the OP rivers. Marabou that is pink and white then slide the worm on the jig hook. The pink and white marabou feathers float around under a bobber looks pretty cool. Do not use 5 inch worms or 4 inch for that matter. When I used smaller worms I seemed to catch more fish.
Here is what I have found. Bait catches more fish at least for me... I have tried eggs, nightcrawlers, squid legs, those little octopus, sand shrimp, and coon shrimp.

Really?? no one has mentioned the standard white head black hair steelhead slayer!! Most likely has taken more than any other under a float.
