Habitat Enhancement Project Announcement
Project Name: Mt. St. Helen’s Wildlife Area Tree Planting
Project Scope: Mudflow tree planting to help stabilize river banks and improve elk habitat.
. This is to provide food, cover, and erosion control on the mudflow.

Expected Duration. May last all day depending on number of volunteers
Anticipated Number of Volunteers Needed: 20
Meals Provided: none
Special Equipment Needed: Tree planting equipment provided (you can bring your own too)
Raingear
Sack lunch.
Gloves
Boots
Rally Point: 3100 road intersect with Spirit Lake Highway/ SR 504. This is 31 miles East from exit 49 on I-5. Meet at 9 AM

Work could be on muddy steep slopes and/or rocky uneven ground. Some work sites may be up to ½ mile from roads.
We will provide planting tools but volunteers can bring their own if they choose. We will be planting willow trees
Special Instructions: If interested, please call or e-mail Dan to confirm and so we can notify you of any changes or cancellations later. He will give specific directions and coordinate with WDFW regarding number of volunteers needed. All volunteers will receive a package of WDFW policies and safety briefing material by e-mail and each volunteer will need to register/re-register at work site with WDFW stating they have read all the policies in the package. Photo id will be required. WDFW Safety Office has implemented these policies.

My brother in law and I did this a few years ago.May just have to sign up again.

My daughter and I do this every year together. This year, we're also going to do the Scotch Broom pulling in May in the same area. We always see lots of elk when we're there.
