I was wondering what you all hunt when it comes to deer hunting. Just wondering the amount of people that deer hunt on private land or public land.
-
I have never actually hunted anything on private land before...
-
99.9% public
-
Does private land open to the general public count the same as if it were public? (in your poll)
-
You need to add a both option for your poll  I hunt both private and public

Yeah I would say so....if everyone has access to it I would say that is public land.
-

:yeah:
yeah I was just thinking that....because that is kind of where I fall too

All deer harvested have been on private.
I have hunted public but never have harvested.
-
mine would vary for species...Muleys 100% public and whiteys 50/50
-
Public.
-
99.9% public
99.1% public
-
majority public but I harvested my first deer & my first buck on private land.
-
Mostly public.
-
Predominantly public, but do have some private land access.
-
100% public
-
private
-
I've "hunted" on public in WA, though I have mostly harvested on private.
-
All Public
-
99.9% public
:yeah:
-
privately public .
-
privately public .
Is that the same as publicly private? :dunno:
-
both private and public....mainly public however.
-
I have basically given up on private land hunting. I am sick of all the BS involved with private lands. I have basically vowed to hunt public lands that are as remote as possible.

Same here, we have given up on the private stuff too, after a few hours the deer are pushed off the private stuff and are out on the public ground. Hunt smarter and not harder, let the deer come to you on public lands.
-
I hunt on private land that is open to the public.
-
Public, If you walk in far enough you dont see any hunters and you see some big bucks and bulls.
It just makes it even better when you down one of them 7 or 8 miles in :chuckle: Gotta earn it tho and not just back your truck up to it :twocents:
-
100 percent private in Idaho and 100 percent public in Washington
-
Mainly private but my two biggest bucks came off public land.
-
privately public .

only if you get caught !

Public

Grew up hunting on private family land in the black hills. My great uncles had over a thousand acres up the Mox Chehalis Road. It was open to the public in those days, but the uncles finally got tired of people leaving gates open and dumping garbage and changed it to hunting by permission only. When I got older, I hunted private timberland for deer, mostly Weyerhauser and Rayonier, but we always hunted elk on Forest Service land near Quinault.
When I moved to Alaska I strictly hunted public land. One of the nice things about Alaska is, there is plenty of public land.
Now I'm back to hunting a mix of private and public timberland. Any more, I actually prefer public. A lot of the private land is being locked up or going to lease only hunting here.
-
private, most of the time
-
Deer- Private 95% of the time.
-
Public!
-
100% public, wouldn't have it any other way.
-
I voted a little of both. I generally hunt the regulars seasons on public land and the late season on private ground. I usually get let everyone in my hunting party get there deer first and then go for mine. So I usually end up getting my deer in the late seasons on private ground.
-
Mostly public but some of my blacktail hunting near home is private. Muledeer hunting is all public.
-
I hunt blacktails on the westside. I mainly hunt near my house which consists mainly of weyerhauser and DNR timberland.
-
I would say 95% of all my hunting is on public, I do hunt ducks on all private, and I have hunted deer on private during late archery season here on the westside, but have never had the oppurtunity to kill anything.
-
hunted public my whole life, except i got permission this year and shot my buck on private :)
-
public, but not in this lame state.
-
Usually public land; however, if a land owner offers I do not discriminate :chuckle:
-
Public Land primarily. It's much easier to "spread out" and cover a lot of ground which is one the keys to finding exceptionally big animals.
