Title: Question for guys familiar with peninsula water and charters in the ocean
Post by: huntnnw on March 19, 2012, 11:53:15 PM
I am heading to the peninsula this July with the family and while over there I wanna go out salmon fishing....my question is I wanna take my daughter who is almost 10 out with me and I don't wanna take here on the BIG water yet example Westport which I have done several times and I wanna start small before taking her in the future out over the bar. I remember back when I was a kid the boats in Seiku were fish close and people were fishing in row boats for salmon there and I figured this may be a place to introduce here to it.  My other questions are any recommendations on charters? Thanks

Good call on Wesport. Great fishery but when you have a ten year old with you dont take chances. The problem with charter boats and ten year olds is the charter boats dont go in whenever you want to. Your looking at long days, unless you and your family  are the only ones on the boat.

Theres a couple of guys that guide out of sekiu, smaller operations. I cant receommend one as I have no experience with them, just see them running around.

The other option is to rent a skiff. That way to can come and go as you please. In early July it can be slow in Sekiu as alot of kings are still staked up in the ocean, but there are fish to be caught. Most guys spend the first couple of hours of daylight fishing then call it a day.

Call Van Ripers and ask about boat rentals.http://www.vanripersresort.com/fishing.htm

Thanks for reply.. I found a charter in neah bay that does half days...also looking into river trips. I see the hoh river has a summer Chinook run and a healthy summer steelhead run.
