Post by: Cap.Silver on March 22, 2012, 08:32:31 PM
Just want to know if anyone has good tip for inexpensive 1 or 2 day charter or open seat for this coming season ..... I have never done tuna fishing before ,but it is on my to do  list this year . Some say it is better out of Oregon ,some out of LaPush ..... some Westport .... so if you have good experience or know good boat let me hear it .

Westport or ilwaco is your best bet. My favorite boat is the Ms Magoo out of Westport, as far as clean well kept vessel, all the charters kind of work together so most of them will put you on fish.

Careful... It's addicting

You're his best friend I take it Pete ? He wouldn't do it to you ,would he? :chuckle:  :bdid:
Ok ,I'll try to keep this post and people interested somewhat on back burner , but if anyone of us would want to go on charter ,usually group of 6 -10 people are sharing the boat for overnight trip I think .... and the spots are filling as we speak ..... Another friend of mine had a guy running from Oregon side 2 day trips for cheap ,but he is taking his sweet time ......  :bash:to find out the schedule and book something .
Now,Ed did you want to go too?

I went out with Pacific Salmon Charters out of Illwaco last year. At least I think that's who it was. Anyway it was a terrible day, windy, rough, half the boat was puking, and everybody just wanted the day to end. We launched at 2:30 AM and by noon we had 1 fish in the boat! The skipper felt bad and kept us out longer than normal and we ended up with 3 more fish. I caught 2 of them. They said their worse day ever was 7 tuna and we only got 4. We are now the worse day ever! There were only 2 tuna boats out that day. All I can say is they try hard.  We bought a couple more from the store there. Fresh tuna is the best!

Out of westport the Ms Magoo is hard to beat but the fleet fishes together so someone will be on fish. They start showing out here about the middle of july but when they start taking bait in august is the best time,
