What time do the expert yote hunters here start using a fawn bleat? I am itching to try my fawn decoy out, but cant seem to rember when the does will give birth.
-
In areas where the rut was a bit early, you'll see does giving birth in the next week or two. Normal rut areas, you'll start seeing youngn's in a few weeks or less.
Fawn bleats will bring in the occasional kitty cat too.

thanks I hope to drop a yote over my decoy!

Most fawns are born the last week of May to the first week of June.

I have had them work threw out the year. Like said the end of may is when I start seeing the first fawns show up.
-
The many times I have used a fawn decoy I have only had one animal attack it or come in for that matter. I assume it was a bobcat but it happened so fast all I saw was a flash and my decoy was ripped out of the ground like it was kicked and I doubt it was a yote. Other than that just wishful thinking that I invested 30 bucks wisely :chuckle:

The fawn bleat sounds so much like rabbit distress, you'll likely get results even if you're a bit early.

All year long

All year long
I second that, with a decoy even better.

This saturday I have permisson to hunt a ranchers pasture and since his cattle has calves recently it might be a way to go with that fawn decoy.

Don't know if wild mule deer are different than pen raised, but the mulies over here at the WSU campus have dropped their fawns already. They are now probably a month or two old... :dunno:

Yeah that's way early. That would mean the does were bred around the first week of August, and everyone knows mule deer rut sometime in the first couple weeks of November.
