Title: Gun Building kit??
Post by: Austrian Hunter on March 27, 2012, 11:35:24 AM: I'm looking to start a project with my 10 year old son. I'm looking for a gun building kit. It can be a display gun or real gun, i don't care about that. Do you have any links you can share, tips or pointers?? Thanks!

Post by: JimmyHoffa on March 27, 2012, 11:52:23 AM: Lyman has some blackpowder rifle/pistol kits. They come with precut wooden stock, barrel, all the parts, predrilled and such. You just have to do the fine work for sanding, the bluing, stock staining/finishing, any painting/checkering. It came with the chemicals/stains/stock finish. About $100-150 less than buying the assembled version. I did one years ago in .54 cal rifle. Is this the kind of kit you are looking for?

Post by: Austrian Hunter on March 27, 2012, 12:49:56 PM: I may, if I don't find anything different. I did see a lot of black powder rifle kits. I was looking for more modern rifle/pistol or AK... But I am open because I don't find much on-line so black-powder may be the way to start, I did not want the first build to be super complicated. Thanks JimmyH!
