So I've been working in Quincy the past month or so and now that the days are getting longer I was thinking of hitting the wasteway. I get off at 330 so I have a few hours in the evening to give it a shot. I have never fished the wasteway and have no clue as to where to go or what to use, I'm not even 100% sure as to where it is. I know Quincy but just the upland bird hunting spots. I've looked at maps but ones I've seen are pretty vauge. I have heard that the perch fishing can good. I am looking to fish from shore. I do have a 12' boat but don't want to drag it to work with me. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

A Buddy and I used to Duck hunt the wasteway 30+ years ago. Consulting my ancient Pittmon map, we used to drive east off of 281 on 5 NW and then south towards I-90 on F NW to an acess point to the east side of the wasteway on 3 NW. As I recall, the shoreline is mostly lined with cattail reeds, so a boat might be helpful. Just have to explore around, I guess.

If you are after perch, go to dobson rd go W on rd 5 to the bridge. You can park there and work the canal South. I wouldnt try driving the canal rd. It is a serious $%#@% hole. They get a few trout there to. If you want to take a boat, take rd 2 or 3 West of dobson, there are rough launches at the end of both
