Here is the second part of Primetime Outdoors Roosevelt Archery Hunt. Watch it to see if Tyson and myself will get to notch our tags.

TTHHHHWWWAAACCCKKK!! Haha, just messin' Jason. I get excited all over again every time I watch!

You guys really got into a pissing match with that second bull. I liked how you kept "stepping" on his bugle and cutting him off. Can you talk about that a little, is that soething that you typically do in a situation like that?
-
hey ...you guys have my vote... to go out in this brush hole we live in and get some good video like that your doing something .....I just like it real ... the way in actually goes down is it .... nothen better than the excitement of knees knocking - arrow clanking and heavy breathing ... something about finding those old grades ...even for blacktail it usually means death for something :dunno: i thought for sure on that 1st bull that arrow was getting buried dead center in his chest ...thats where I was looking when the bow went off.... and yeah you might want to get one of those silent killers A MATHEWS .... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :tung:

AKBowman - I will make a new post or I can send you a PM. It is a good discussion and I use the same tactics quite often.
BH45- We just try to capture what we do out in the woods as REAL as we can. Could you tell I yanked the arrow off the rest when I drew? Let me tell you that Slick Trick was scary sharp and I sliced and diced my finger. We did edit that out because when I turned around I had blood dripping from my finger and my nose (got a bloody nose when I was calling him in).
The most important thing is I had a blast on this hunt. I cut my teeth on hunting these bulls in the thick stuff. They may not have the biggest horns but the hunt more than makes up for that.
The bull was quartering a little so I choose a spot just to the left. When I was visualizing the vitals that's where I wanted to go.
As far as that Bowtech it is so fast it doesn't even matter that it is whisper quiet.

I have never been a horn hunter.... I like eating elk ... i shot my share of smaller bulls and now I have my wall hanger I will kill smaller bulls and nice big fat cows :chuckle: anyone would get nervous when an animal is off the tip of your arrow ...thats why we love bow hunting ...being able to get close ...that takes skill and knowledge of the woods ....NICE VIDEO .... Plus I need a couple of your calls before September
-
Nice hunt. good to see some arrows fly! as for that loud bow jason I'd get serious and get a HOYT!
-
It will be a long while before I ever get rid of the Guardian :bdid:
I think the real conversation should be if everyone is interested in getting a pot of money going so we can buy Tyson 40-50 lb limbs for his Martin or a gym membership? That was the funniest thing ever, watching him try to get his bow drawn. :chuckle:  :chuckle: :chuckle:  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Awesome video, clarity, quality and subject.... but am I the only one who's a little squeamish about showing a frontal shot?
Could start a major discussion over frontal shots... and some people swear by them... but showing in a video might encourage those with less experience.

The question/issue I knew I would have to answer/deal with since last September when I let the arrow fly. Trust me, you are not the only one who thought about it.
Let me start by saying I would rather take a broadside or quartering shot any day compared to the frontal shot that I took. This is the first frontal shot I have ever taken (I have read debates on bowsite and other forums on it's effectiveness). I would only recommend the frontal shot to someone who understands elk vitals very well and is 100% CONFIDENT in their ability to place the arrow within about a 1.5" circle (this shot leaves little room to error). I had been practicing all summer and could put my arrow inside of that 1.5" circle at 30 yards all day. My arrow ended up about an 1" left of where I ideally would have placed it. When we gutted him I had ran my arrow most of the length of the bull's right lung cut the back of the left lung and the arrow was lodged in the liver. The bull expired within 10 minutes.
With that being said. I hope to never have to take that shot again. Will I, if the opportunity presents itself? That depends on my nerves and my confidence in making the perfect shot.
As far as the guys' with less experience taking the shot. I can only hope that, they only take shots they are comfortable with and aren't just looking to "get an arrow in a bull". This video shows that the shot is effective, but I STRESS only take a shot you are 99.99% sure that one shot will kill the bull.

Ha! The key is I got the bow drawn back! When he went down to our right he caught me off guard and had me drawn back for much longer than I expected. When it came down to go time, I was so worked with nerves it was a struggle getting my wobbly arms to draw back one last time :chuckle: BUT encounters like that is exactly why we're out there isn't it? I'm sure it would've been a lot less memorable for Jason and myself if I would've been able to just draw straight back and let it fly. :dunno: :chuckle:It will be a long while before I ever get rid of the Guardian :bdid:

:yeah:Very True
The day I stop getting excited is the day I will hang it up

I have Guardian also & love it. Much better than my Martin Jaguar but the Jaguar was a good bow just doesn't compare to the Guardian.

:yeah:
You cut your finger and blood out your nose I'd say it was a perfect shot that I wouldn't have tried. Great videos!!!

Great video and thanks for sharing it is a very tough job to get big game hunts on video. Keep on posting them as they are very entertaining.

As for this comment I do agree there will be a discussion on frontal shots. Most people who take these shots loose the animal because of the lack of blood and not taking the majority of the life giving organs out to bring the animal down.
Still great video...

Thanks guys.
I should have just shot the bull in part 1 at 6 yards broadside. :dunno: I ended up with a smaller bull and a frontal shot. :o

Cool video! Good footage and ya gotta love rosie video
Discussion is good... As long as thats all it is. My :twocents: The shot is controversial for good reason. It takes skill, close range, and some good nerves to pull it off. As far as lethality my experience is its extremely effective. And my shortest blood trails were from frontal shots.
