Bought a new chronograph since I thought my old F1 Chrony was super touchy. ANYWAY...
I learned that one of my more accurate loads is shooting a tad slow for my taste. Right now, I am using the following ingredients:
Nosler Brass
Fed 215 GMM primer
IMR 4350 60.4 grains
Out of my 300 Weatherby Vanguard with a 24" barrel, I am getting an average of 2695 FPS. Not horrible, but for a 300 mag, that seems a bit low.. Ideally, I want to be around 2800 FPS with this bullet.
Considering, RL 19 which is a bit slower burning.. also considering RL 22 and IMR 7828. But I am worried that these powders are too slow.
Does anyone have any receipes they can share that shoots a 300 WSM with a 180-185 grain bullet out of 24" barrel? If you have a 26" barrel you already should be getting around 50-100+FPS so thanks.

Here is my current load. Not bergers, but this is the money load for my gun.
300WSM
BROWNING X BOLT
180gr Accubond
IMR 4350. 65.5gr
OAL. 2.92
FEDERAL 215 Primer
FEDERAL NICKLE
MUZZLE VEL: 3030fps.
FTLBS ENERGY: 3669.1
2.5 inches high at 100yds and I can cover a three shot group with a nickle.

Thanks for the recipe! I will try it this weekend.

My top performer with 180 gr bullets is 70 gr RE22 with 180 gr Hornady Inter-Bond and CCI 250 primer, chrono's at 2910. Thats the best velocity I got trying max loads with a dozen different powders out of a Tikka T3 300wsm. I thought it should break the 3000 mark but it never did with all that testing.

I dailed in this load on my Tikka 300WSM T3 lite. It has 24" bbl with 1/11" twist. No chrono but from the books looks to be around 2900 fps.
180 Accubonds
WLRM primer
66.5 H4831sc
FC brass
about 1" at 200 yards.

I loaded 70 gr of H4831sc with 180 gr Hornady SP bullets and chrono'd those at 2900 out of my T3 300wsm.
You might also try RE17 or Hodgdon Superformance. They were both developed with the 300wsm in mind and I've gotten good velocities from those as well.
I try to load for accuracy 1st and speed 2nd. With the right combination, I get the best of both. Thats what reloading is all about.

Thanks, guys!
I am going to try the 180 Accubond as well as the H4831.
Buckblaster.. I have not found enough information for reloading with Hornady's superformance powder. I have seen a couple receipe's calling for 150 grain SP bullets out of the 300 WSM.. but nothing else.
Do you have access to information you can share?
