Title: Anywhere near Walla Walla?
Post by: mr user on April 09, 2012, 07:06:09 PM
I just learned I am going to be up in Walla Walla this weekend.  While my brother golfs, i figure that I might as well fish.  However, I have no idea where to go.  Are there any little lakes or streams/rivers around that has decent fishing?

check the regs to see what's open, but the tucannon, snake, mill creek, blue creek... lots of water around!

Snake river and a lake or two in the area. I am almost positive that the small rivers in the area are closed until June.

Blue Creek is closed waters and Mill Creek is a late opener.  I am not up to date on the Touchet, Toucanan, Walla Walla, check the regs.

The rivers will be closed except the Snake, except for the mouth of the Walla Walla - and that trout/steelhead ARE NOT open.

If you want to catch some trout, head over to the Tucannon lakes. Not too far away.

Tucannon Lakes are a little over an hour from town.  Past Dayton.  Follow the signs that point to Camp Wooten.

You might try giving it a shot over by Wallula, there's Casey's Pond which is really an inlet to Burbank Slough from the Columbia that might have some bass in there, I've never tried it this early in the year but you can catch some decent smallmouth in that area, I saw a boat in there this past week while I was driving from work.  Also a little further up there's a bridge that's the inlet to the Snake and I've caught largemouth on the slough area in June, might be some fish in there now too.
