They extended the lower river salmon fishery to April 22
-
This is such a joke! How about they let some salmon cross the dam first before they extend the season! It really pisses me off that fish and game only cares about the almighty $$$ they are supposed to be about preservation of the fish but I guess this is nothing we have not seen before! Pump the run up with paper fish and sell a bunch of licenses than back track and screw everyone who does not live on the western side of the Cascades!
Well to all that are going out good luck!

There will not be many fish caught in the lower river period now.... They just opened the gates on Bonneville. Getting the flow up to bring the fish upriver. Last year, when they did this, no body caught fish below Bonneville. Fish just screamed up river and over the dam. You will either see the numbers jump drastically over the next 4 days or so, or there will not be a run... and trust me... not many fish have been caught with the first extension either.... fished hard for 2 days with buckhorn2... fishing really sucked. 4 guys in the boat, no fish.

I just hate how they use paper fish to set the seasons! Every year its the same old $hit every year hype up the run and than hope that they dont go over ESA impact %. The 30% buffer they use is a start but but if they closed the season down and waited for some fish to start moving through than open it when they have a better idea of what the run is like it would be better for all user groups.
Its just an idea but how about waiting for the fish to start moving through the system. No matter what they do they can not make all user groups happy but they can do a better job at compromising to allow for a more evenly distributed share of the fish that we all pay to raise.
