Title: TC Encore Pro Hunter muzzleloader???
Post by: TeacherMan on April 16, 2012, 03:41:31 PM
Question... I got the TC Pro Hunter this year and I was thinking of getting the muzzleloader barrel for it. Can I get it so it takes a number 11 cap? I've been out of the state for a couple years but I'm assuming you still can't use a 209 primer? Even if you can get it to use a #11 what about the fact the cap would be covered? Is there a way to make the Pro Hunter legal in WA?

If not what would a good priced inline WA legal muzzleloader be? I've just been looking at the Westside BT seasons and down in the area I'm moving it looks like this would be a good way to do it.

thanks

That is not a TC option....

A machinist might be able to make the conversion for you but it would be a job...

I would highyl suggest a Knight DISC Extreme with a Western Kit installed + you could put the 209 assembly back in when you could use it.

Might look at these threads...

I think Bass Pro also is has them for sale...  Wholesale Sports in Washington also has Knights but they only have the Big Horn.

Looking into them I think I'm starting to really like the Bighorn. $100 cheaper and it will more than do the job. Ordering from Knight looks like an easy way to do it aswell.

thanks!

Now remember - I am totally biased  - but I think the DISC is far more versitile with added features that make it worth the xtra $$ - but I hunt all year with a ML.

It is probably a Knight Original DISC...

It will probably come ready to shoot shotgun primers that you install in an Orange plastic jacket, and they also made a plastic jacket that you could install a #11 in - but it would not be legal for the northwest as the cap is not exposed.

To make the conversion from the Orange jackets to #11 or Musket that you could use in Washington you would have to purchase a Western Kit from Knight, remove the firing pin assembly from the the old bolt and install in the new Western Bolt with a the new breech plug.

The stock is also kinda odd... it is great for open sights but to low for a scope which shouldn't be a problem.

Here is another one listed on Gun Broker..

The Original DISC was the fore runner to the Knight DISC Extreme and Elite
