Title: upstate new york high country
Post by: jackelope on August 01, 2008, 09:49:29 PM: ok i know...it's new york...but i thought i might surprise a couple of you with some scenery. these are cascade and porter mountains in the adirondacks. my dad just turned 65 2 weeks ago and he is on a mission to hike all 46 peaks in the adirondacks that are 4000' plus. he has done all of the peaks in the catskills that are 3000" plus. this is high elevation for back east, don't laugh ;) these are 2 of the easier ones in the adirondacks...1940' in 2.4 miles. Views are incredible, especially from Cascade with its bare summit. Awesome view of the Keene Valley to the north and the Great Range to the southwest.

Her brother's father in law is a huge turkey hunter. He has invited my dad and I to come out and go turkey hunting with him. Id like to take him up on the offer someday just to get to see some more of the country.

6 million acres, forever wild and 2000 miles of hiking trails. yep...it's big.

real good turkey hunting in new york...some nice whitetails and bears too.

Never did like NYC all that much when I was there.
