Yes. He does. And do you know why? Because he's holding his packframe in front of them. That's why...

Anyone have any advice on how to live trap bobcat? I passed my saftey trappers, I am orginally from back east and trapper coons and muskrats many many years ago.. but I am dying to get a bob cat.
-
Come to the rendezvous in Cashmere. Bernie is giving a talk/demo on cage trapping bobcats on June 9th. It's a super fun weekend and you will learn a lot.
-
:yike: Big, Big Balls. Wow that video was crazy.
-
OK, now I'm curious. How do you set for cougar? I;ve heard cougar can't really be baited because they will only eat off their own kills. Do they come in to scent lures or do you have to get them on constricted trails?

I think you have heard wrong. They stick their heads in my baited bobcat sets all the time and steal the bait.
First couple I caught were snared in trails. Sets made for coyote. Last 5 were all in baited bobcat sets. Since the cage trap laws I couldn't count how many I would have caught if they would fit in the trap.
I do think that when game was more prevelant they were not so likely to come to bait. Not the case anymore. If we were allowed foot traps I would opt for a smaller trap like 1 3/4 CS for cats and coyote now. All the cougar would self release and of course you can install BADs (break away devices) on snares now which weren't available back when I snared them.
It is definetly a pain in the rear to catch one.
