Ok fellas , my chiropractors receptionist told my uncle that she saw on the news that there was a shrimp the size of lobsters from japan invading puget sound. is she on drugs or have any of you heard of this. i havent checked any news websites yet but lets get to the bottom of this.

Invasive? Sounds delicious! :chuckle: I haven't heard that but in about a week, if it's true...you'll hear about it for sure...unless they are to big for traps!
-
yes they do sound delicious. if its true theres gotta be a way to legally fish for them. count me in.
-
It's in the gulf of mexico, not P.S.
-
How am I gonna get my traps on the plane to paradise?

How am I gonna get my traps on th plane?
Just take your boat down the coast, through the Panama Canal and up into the gulf, no problem! :dunno: :chuckle:

If theyre from Japan I suppose they just had to follow the radioactive debris field :yike:
-
Sunami Prawns??
-
I wonder if "invasive" is the right term if they've moved in all by themselves. They sound good to me unless of course they make the Geiger counter go nuts.
-
If they are in the gulf, i would find it hard to believe that they made it to the Gulf on thier own. :twocents:
-
They mad it to the gulf probably either from switching currents or from the balast water from ships.
-
you guys can eat all you want of those RADIO ACTIVE shrimp :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
yeah invasive might not be the right word if they got here on their own. maybe migratory? i heard this 3rd hand so i didnt put much faith in it. :dunno:

here's one article about it. Seems likely they escaped from aquaculture. For the sound, the invasive I usually hear concern about is Atlantic Salmon.

Illegals!!! Book em!!! Wait til WDF&G find out then you're gonna have to fork over another $20!! :yike:

One can purchase tiger shrimp from seafood shops, but they're about 6 inches long, at most.
I wonder if they're like lobster in that the larger they are, the tougher and less tasty they are.
I'd be willing to try one. After they're tested with geiger, of course.
-
thanks for posting the article. looks like we dont have to buy lobster traps for the puget sound any time soon.

Do a Google search on "puget sound invasive shrimp" the number one entry gives you all the information on this topic.
