Any one have one or has shot one? Currently carry a SA EMP and love it . Went to try to find the Kimber and was told there is a 16 month back order wait. They said maybe Cabelas had one. Help on locating one. Thanks.

I shot a few solo's when I worked at a gun store/range. Everyone that I knew that had one said they would never buy one again. The ones that I shot were OK and accurate, but felt small in my hand. The other problem is that Kimber has let their QC drop and quite heavily on their name to sell guns the past few years. Personally, I would stay as far away from the solo, or anything Kimber... I have one friend that bought one, shot a box and broke a trigger spring. She sent it in and 8 weeks later got it back, shot it again the firing pin broke. She sent it back again and then 8 weeks later she ended up selling it. Seems like the people that I talked to that had similar experiences. :dunno:
I am sure someone is going to call me a Kimber hater, and tell you they are the best "GUNZ EVERZ!!!" I am just giving you what I have seen with them. Kimber has plenty of fan-boys out there and people that will only buy Kimbers, but all things considered you can get a lot more gun for the money getting something else. Just my :twocents:.

Ive been wanting a 1911 for a long time and was really looking at Kimber. But after reading a LOT of reviews and threads on other forums It sounds like Kimber isnt the best gun for the price. Ive read a lot of good things about Dan Wesson 1911's and have been thinking of going that direction. I still think the kimber custom covert II is the best looking 1911 though.

I just realized that the solo cdp isnt a 1911, sorry for the irrelevant input. :dunno:

I have a kimber custom covert II and really like the gun, shoots great but this spring I was packing it every day out hiking and if I didn't wipe it down every other day it would rust up bad. I own plenty of other guns that I carry all the time in the same weather with no problems. A gun that cost that much shouldn't rust up so easy. Never had a problem with my Glock's rusting.

There are plenty of other options for a better price... If someone is looking for a good carry 1911 take a look at American Classic, very inexpensive but great guns... All CNC and part of the Arms Corp family. Put a trigger job on them and you have one hell of a decent gun. If you are looking for an amazing 1911, Dan Wesson if you want to spend that much is hands down about the best production 1911 out there. They are all hand fitted by one gun smith. The only thing better us a custom made 1911.
Kimber is pretty much garbage for the cost anymore.
Sent from my sniper hide.

I wish I would have saw this one earlier. I was just in the gun store today. I think they had one of those a few weeks ago but I can't be 100% sure. I will keep my eye out for one.
