Title: thoughts on using two poles at the wind and drano lake??

Post by: cohoho on May 17, 2012, 04:12:54 PM: I agree with Huntbear trolling- not a chance at those two locations - Drano or Wind........ Saw some folks doing it, they could barely control things with one rods and kicker let alone two. Not worth the trouble or hassles, especially if crowded.

Post by: Joe Merlot on May 17, 2012, 07:46:39 PM: 2 rods per man aint a thang, provided you are proficient at doing so, and they guys you fish with are savvy.

We used to run 4 rods on 4 downriggers and two rods on droppers.

Keep it choked up tight. Heavier weights weights than usual keep the scope of the line to a minimum and help with depth control. Make sure to utilize your wingspan, with longer rods perpendicular to the boat, and the shorter ones off the back.

If you got greenies on your boat, kids, or guys who have never stayed on top of more than one rod, don't even try. Drano can turn into a tangle fest real quick.

Post by: cohoho on May 17, 2012, 08:04:12 PM: Multiple rods off a down rigger is never a problem in open water, but Drano and Wind - too many dumb asses there trying to run the extra rods and screwing up the flow.... When it's that crowded, all that it does is f-up everyone else. Add that to people that haven't a clue about trolling yet alone driving a boat...
