I'm headed up to Marrowstone island next weekend with my family for a little vacation. My grandma has a vacation place right down the beach from Fort Flagler on Kilisut Harbor. I've been going up there since I was a baby, but have never fished. Besides one time at a dock, and we cought a couple dog fish (or mud sharks, dont know the correct name). Just a lot of clam digging and wading around the water for crab. I plan on taking my boat this time to try some fishing. Im just kind of lost on what to do, like bait and set up. Basically im fishing for anything edible. I know rockfish is closed year around. So probably just other bottom fish i guess. :dunno: And also dont know where I should fish. Should I fish in the harbor, or on the opposite side of the Island which is Amirality Inlet? I was thinkink of just using some peices of clam or herring and slip sinker casting out and see what happens. Thanks for your help!

been doing some reading online and i guess Halibut and Lings might also be an option out on the Inlet.. how does one go about fishing for those?

tony04 - Might be a good ideal to visit a quality fishing store prior to heading out, Sportco, Auburn Sports and Marine, Johns or Three Rivers Marine, they will get you hooked up with everything you need. Maybe look for a guide that runs that area and have them take you out, tell them your interested in starting fishing and want to learn what to use, how and whats of it. I haven't a clue where the area you describe is located, but if Lings and Halibut are open good decent quality equipment is also needed.
