The shad are here. Been seeing about 2-3 dozen a day caught off of Steamboat landing dock in Washougal.
I have some in the freezer now and can put some away if any one wants some.
-
Just saw that some started to come over boneville dam. It will be awhile before it gets real hot.
-
Yeah I seen they are starting over the Boneville, around mid June I hope it hot and heavy. I will make at least a run down there if it gets hot to load up on them for crab bait. Best crab bait I have used!!!
-
The shad are here pretty good.
Caught fish for Elkaholic's order.
Wife likes to catch the damn things. I created a monster.
Anyone needin crab bait or OS bait, let me know.

Bonneville does not have crap for shad heading over yet. I know guys lower down have been doing good. I will wait tell the numbers hit 5k plus before I make any trips down there.

I'd be interested in a half dozen to ten depending on your space available. Will be down in Vancouver about July 7, maybe sooner but not sure.

what do you guys use shad for? do you eat them, or just use them for bait?
-
As mentioned above, they make good crab bait.

Went out for the first time this year below McNary, caught about 20 in 2 hours.

Do you catch them and throw them back?

My dad and I were at the Boneville dam fishing shad yesterday and ended up with 54 between the two of us.....we have our crab bait!!!!!!!
-
So bait...
I was talking to an Asain dude who would take all the roe out of the fish but did not want the fish. THought that was a freaking waste so went steelhead fishing.
-
I know there are some people that eat the roe and the fish too. But for us its all about the crab bait. BEST crab bait I have ever used.
