I want to buy a good quality air rifle . Some input would be appreciated. I have fond memories of a sheridan that my uncle had when I was growing up. I am sure the tech has come a long way since then... Thanks.

The Sheridan/Benjamin pump rifles are always nice, definitely classics.
I prefer the Gamo or similar break action spring rifles because you don't have to pump them and they have some really high FPS numbers, I have one that you can switch barrels from .177 to .22, the .22 really knocks the crap out of starlings.
I had a Benjamin pump that was .20 if I remember right, kind of an odd caliber but it was the perfect size for an air rifle in my opinion.

Spendy, but check out Edguns on you tube ... Bad a$$

I have prefer a Gamo .17 and it does the job, accurate easy to load scope is so so but for field rats and such it is great.

They have a cheaper version at wal-mart that is alot lighter than this one but it feels cheap comparatively.
-
i have a gamo whisper and my friends have the bigcats. but for the money i would go with the big cat
-
Nitro Piston is the way to go spring guns are very loud compared to NP. Also NP has alot less recoil so you can see your shots more often :twocents:

i heard GAMO were all built in the US, while most others aren't. RWS is obviously still a great choice, but if i was going to buy one, I really like the GAMO Rocket (OD green ). if you have a Big 5 near, at times they have them on sale right around $100. gotta watch it every week and be ready to go down that morning.

I got a gamo and its pretty accurate with there ammo.
-
I had an RWS I bought years ago that was fantastically accurate, had a good trigger and had plenty of power, I now have a Crosman Storm XT from Wally World and it is very powerful and accurate but the trigger is crap. I'm ordering a trigger upgrade for it this week as I really like the gun and if I can get the trigger sorted it will be great.

Thanks for th input. Wide range of choices 4 sure . Gonna do some more research.
-
I have an rws that I routinely ring steel with at 60-70 yards and have taken crows that far as well. I use the heaviest pellets I can find which are above 9 grains and it shoots very well. Were I to do it today....mirror piston for sure. Springers are quite finicky.

Pyramyd Air is a great resource for specs, reviews, and, of course, purchasing.

Have a Beeman RS2 with the two barrels. Been thinking about selling it. The scope that came with it was crap and since I started reloading shooting my AR is more fun and cheap enough.
-
I would advise against the beeman rs2 with the two barrels i had that rifle for about a week before i took it back and i tried everything i could think of to keep the barrels tight including several different levels of locktight and for the life of me i couldn't get the set screw to stay put it would back out every third shot and the barrel would be loose and only accurate for the first shot . that proved to be the most frustrating rifle i have ever owned. :bash:

Right or wrong I just purchased the Diana RWS 350. Now time will tell . Thanks for the input and links.....
-
I am betting that you will love it! I think that is the same model that I used to have.
-
I know my rws 48 has been hell on the birds that crapped on my boat.

For a springer that's a good choice
-
gamo .177 this week i have wacked 5 starlings between 35 and50 yards and not only drop them but have 2 clean threw shots
-
I saved up when I was like 8 and bought my first Diana. RWS makes a fine pellet rifle IMO!! Good choice
