Title: Rufus Woods??
Post by: kevinp16 on May 22, 2012, 09:59:54 AM
Heading out there this weekend and wanted to see if anyone has had any luck this spring yet? Thinking about heading up to the fish pins Saturday morning and troll back. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks. I'm guessing on the amount of responses that no one has been over there yet to fish. I heard that the triploid tournament was a disaster cause it was slow going.
I'll keep you posted after the weekend on what we caught.

I don't check out to many boats, but the shores have been pretty slow. All the big fish I checked except maybe one, wasn't even in the derby on that Sat. I know people that came over and just heard about the derby and wanted to get in but was turned away, because of the dead line.

The derby was a disaster, but I believe you can still catch fish. I always do well trolling double whammy walleye rigs with a crawler in the back eddy's. I always fish for walleye but it's hard to not catch triploids.  They are fun to catch for a while, but I consider them a nuisance! Good luck and let us know how you do.

Fishing was crap all weekend. Caught a few small 14" trout up at the pins and one 12" trout off our beach using power bait Saturday. Sunday was a bust of trolling all day long with out a bite.

Spoke to a few other trolling boats that had no luck either. Wonder what's going on?? Never seen it this slow in years.
